ROSS – Local Boy Scout Troop 14 recently joined forces with the Ross County Park District and Ohio Department of Natural Resources to conduct a cleanup of a four mile section of the North Fork of Paint Creek just outside Chillicothe.

The Park District is establishing a water trail along the four mile stretch from the bridge on Maple Grove Road at Anderson Station Road to the Coppel Soccer Complex off Western Avenue.

Troop 14 Boy Scout Daniel Rourke teamed with the Park District and O.D.N.R. in establishing the water trail as his Eagle Scout Service Project, which started with the cleanup of the area.

Nine Scouts, six adult leaders and five additional volunteers performed 114 service hours in removing 19 tires, a picnic table, an eight foot culvert, a large section of carpet, and hundreds of pounds of additional  construction and remodeling debris as well as general litter.

Ross County Littler Control assisted with the disposal of these items. Troop 14 is chartered through Saint Mary’s Church, Chillicothe.
