Ross County – Homeowner Thwarts Attempted Break-In in Chillicothe

A resident in the 100 Block of Paint Street area prevented a potential burglary on Wednesday night after confronting a suspect attempting to enter his home.

According to police reports, homeowners, received a notification from their security system around 10:26 PM indicating motion detection. Upon letting their dogs in from outside after hearing noises near the front door, the dogs then started barking at the possible suspect. When the homeowner investigated he saw a man.

He observed a figure attempting to pry open the front door through a breezeway window obscured by a curtain. When Mr. Henderson confronted the suspect, the individual fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-30s with a sunken face, wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt and carrying a pry bar. Responding officers found fresh scratches and pry marks on the door frame, which were documented as evidence.

“This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being vigilant and taking steps to secure your home,” said the Chillicothe Police department, “We encourage residents to consider installing security cameras and alarm systems, and to report any suspicious activity immediately.”
