Chillicothe — The Ross County Grand Jury returned all 10 of their cases Friday, December 1st, 2023, with four open for release to the public. From testimony in the the grand jury in one of the cases, according to the Ross County Prosecutor’s Office:
While two Chillicothe Police officers were on random patrol November 3rd, one recognized 21-year-old homeless Shane M. Seyfang and knew he had a warrant for his arrest.
She approached Seyfang and advised him of the warrant. The officer grabbed Seyfang’s coat since he is known to flee, but as Seyfang stood up he shoved the officer in the chest with both hands.
The other officer saw this and ran to the pair, trying to detain Seyfang, who continued to resist. Seyfang lost his balance and fell down, taking the officer with him.
The officer landed with his chest on the microphone of his police radio, and felt instant pain. At the hospital, he was told he had a torn muscle across his chest.
For indictments on fourth-degree assault and fifth-degree obstructing official business, Seyfang could get up to 2 1/2 years and $7,500 in fines.
