COLUMBUS — Entrepreneur and conservative firebrand Vivek Ramaswamy has won the Ohio Republican gubernatorial primary, according to a race call by the Associated Press. The victory marks a major milestone for the Cincinnati native, who surged to a “historic margin” of victory to secure the GOP nomination for Governor.

Ramaswamy, running alongside State Senate President Rob McColley as his lieutenant governor pick, celebrated the win by promising a “revival” of the American Dream within the Buckeye State.

“The American Dream Exists”

In a statement released shortly after the race was called, Ramaswamy leaned into his personal biography and a platform centered on economic growth.

“I know the American Dream exists because I’ve lived it right here, in the state where I was born and raised,” Ramaswamy said. “We’re going to revive that American Dream in Ohio once again—with lower costs, bigger paychecks, and better schools for all Ohioans.”

Ramaswamy, a businessman who rose to national prominence during the 2024 presidential cycle, has campaigned on an “unapologetic conservative” platform. His vision for Ohio emphasizes limited government, individual liberty, and a promise to make the state a national leader in free enterprise.

The McColley Connection

The victory also solidifies the standing of Rob McColley, the current President of the Ohio Senate. McColley joined the ticket with a focus on legislative efficiency and a record of fiscal conservatism.

A key pillar of the Ramaswamy-McColley campaign has been a staunch rejection of government overreach. McColley has frequently cited his work in the Senate to prevent a return to COVID-era restrictions, often drawing a sharp contrast with the policies of former health director and Democrat Amy Acton.

The Road to November

The primary win sets the stage for what is expected to be a high-energy general election campaign. Ramaswamy expressed confidence in his momentum, thanking supporters for the decisive primary turnout.

“I am grateful to everyone who helped us win today’s election by historic margins,” Ramaswamy stated. “I look forward to a decisive victory again in November.”

As the GOP unifies behind the Ramaswamy-McColley ticket, the focus now shifts to the general election, where Ohioans will decide the direction of the state’s leadership for the next four years.
