CIRCLEVILLE, OH — As the Circleville Pumpkin Show approaches, 16-year-old Sadie Binkley, a student at Logan Elm High School, is eager to represent her community as a candidate for Miss Pumpkin Show.
Sadie, daughter of Jamey and Sarah Binkley, is deeply rooted in the traditions of the Pumpkin Show, viewing it as a cherished time for family and friends. “For many of us from Circleville, the Pumpkin Show serves as an annual homecoming. It’s an opportunity to relax and enjoy time together,” she shared.
Reflecting on her favorite memories, Sadie recalls competing in the Little Miss Pumpkin Show when she was in first grade. “It was so neat to see all my friends dressed up and ready to compete, riding through the parade and smiling at everyone,” she said.
When it comes to the culinary delights of the show, Sadie’s favorite is the pumpkin ice cream served by the Circleville Rotary Club, which she describes as the best year after year.
Describing the Pumpkin Show to newcomers, she emphasizes its significance: “Every October, Circleville hosts the Greatest Free Show on Earth. The city streets come alive with a large festival promoting agriculture, schools, and civic organizations, where families and friends create lasting memories.”
If given the chance, Sadie would extend the festival by adding an extra day, allowing attendees to fully enjoy all the offerings without feeling rushed.
As a candidate for Queen, she plans to highlight what makes the Pumpkin Show unique, focusing on its rich traditions and community spirit. “I want to share what makes the Pumpkin Show special and ensure everyone knows why it’s the Greatest Free Show on Earth.”
Sadie credits her mother as the greatest influence in her life. “She inspires me to treat others with kindness and is always willing to help,” she said, emphasizing the strong bond they share.
Among her proudest accomplishments is leading her high school softball team to the State Final Four last spring as a pitcher. “It was an amazing run, and I enjoyed every minute of it,” Sadie expressed.
As the Pumpkin Show nears, Sadie’s enthusiasm for her community and its traditions shines through, making her a promising candidate for the title of Miss Pumpkin Show.
