Joseph S. Barnhart Sr., 84, of Chillicothe, formerly of Darbyville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, in Chillicothe.
He was born June 12, 1931, in Pickaway County, the son of Jeremiah and Myrtle (Hoy) Barnhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Joycelynn; son, Jerry; granddaughter, Nicole Atkinson; sisters, Jane Neville and Dorothy Rogers; and brothers, Charles and Lloyd Lee Barnhart.
Joe was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Alice (VanHorn) Barnhart; daughters, Tina Smith and Shelley Robinson; sons, Joseph Barnhart Jr. and Tommy Barnhart Sr.; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Barnhart; grandchildren, Shelley (Greg) Adams, Tommy (Becca Hatfield) Barnhart Jr., Amber (Anthony II) Lee, Brandie Barnhart, Amy (Christopher Mayle) Smith, Amanda (Baldy) Mosley, Jennifer (Michael Thomas) Barnhart, Christina (David Beebe) Barnhart and Charles (Jennifer) Robinson; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
