Ralph Franklin Jones Sr., 77, of Circleville passed away at home at 9:50 p.m. Sept. 22, 2015.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1937, in Circleville, to Robert and Florence (Hill) Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Dale Byrd.
Ralph, an Air Force veteran, was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, served on City Council for six years, was instrumental in forming youth bowling leagues and girls’ softball and co-ed softball leagues, and was a youth volunteer and mentor for boys clubs.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Sally (Stewart) Jones; his children, Linda (Daniel) Rice, Lisa (Mark) Bayless, Leslie (Larry Sr.) Jones and Ralph II (Lora) Jones, all of Circleville; grandchildren, Andrew, Lanessa, Lea, Linzy, Larry Jr., LaKisha, Mark and Shaun; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert (Carmen) Jones Jr., John (Joyce) Jones and Granville (Vera) Jones; sisters, Edith Jones, Florence (Thomas) Fisher, Harriett Brown and Theresa Byrd; a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends; and extended family member, Sheldon Arledge.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church with Pastor Katherine Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville.
