James O’Day III, age 86, of Orient, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, in Monterey Care Center, Grove City.
He was born June 17, 1929, in Mt. Sterling.
He was a member of the Grove City Catholic Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help; member of Teamsters #413; served in the United States Navy; and member of Grove City American Legion and VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice (Stone) O’Day II.; and sister, Una.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary (Dunn) O’Day; sons, Gus (Debbie) O’Day, Tony (Debbie) O’Day and Nick (Velvet) O’Day; daughters, Vonnie (Bill) Niesz, Cherie (Mike) Henson and Cindy (Bob) Birchell; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A Catholic service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling. The interment will follow in Pleasant Cemetery with military honors given to the Navy veteran by the Demorest American Legion Post #532. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
