Esther Margaret Davis, 95, of Laurelville, passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, in Logan Elm Health Care Center, Circleville, following an extended illness.
She was born May 4, 1920, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, the daughter of John E. and Sophia A. (Haid) Smolder.
On Nov. 3, 1952, she married Charles J. Davis, who preceded her in death Oct. 6, 1996.
Surviving are daughters, Doris (Philip) Vogel of Laurelville and Janet (Sanford, D.C.) Golenberg of Athens; sons, Charles J. Davis of Kingston and Michael (Victoria) Davis of Hong Kong; grandchildren, Maia Davis, Hana Davis, Scott (Carol) Vogel, Robert (Robin) Vogel, James (Candy) Vogel, Vicki Diehl, Karen McCord, Keith Evans and Kae Diehl; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Trever, Sara, Tyler and Braia Vogel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Patty Davis; grandson, David Evans; and sisters, Alice Richardson and Ruth Burke.
Mrs. Davis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, with Fr. Sean Dooley, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home, Chillicothe, where a Rosary Service will be observed at 7 p.m.
