Logan Elm students recycle to fund college scholarships

CIRCLEVILLE — Rumpke Recycling and the Logan Elm Local School District recently partnered to collect more than 33,000 aluminum cans from Nov. 5, 2014, to Feb. 1, 2015, to raise money for college scholarships.

Students and local businesses contributed nearly 1,000 pounds of cans during the collection. Rumpke provided a cash payback of more than $600 to the Logan Elm Industrial Arts Fund, which offers college scholarships to students pursuing careers related to industrial technology.

Rumpke also donated prizes to the students who collected the most cans.

• First Place: $75, Jared Pontius, freshman, collected 250 pounds of cans.
• Second Place: $25, Isaiah Morgan, freshman, collected 66 pounds of cans.

“We really enjoy working with Logan Elm for this project,” said Bret Imler, Rumpke Recycling manager. “It’s great to see students recycling for a good cause.”
