W.M. “Mike” Black, 77, passed away May 6, 2015, at his home.
Mike was born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 17, 1937.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Isabel (Border) Black; and sister, Judith Judy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ellen; daughter, Laura (Doug) Ball; grandson, Spencer; sister, Kate Haberstock; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Mike graduated from the University of Toledo, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He worked for Owens Illinois, Nekoosa Packaging and retired from Georgia Pacific Box Plant as general manager.
Mike was a member of Community United Methodist Church, past member of Tecumseh Board of Directors, past chairman of Pickaway County United Way, member of Rotary Club, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and B.P.O.E. Elks.
After a three-year battle with cancer, Mike gave many thanks to the James Cancer Research Center.
Friends may call from 2 to 4:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, Ohio 43113.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington D.C. 20090, in honor of a close friend; or Berger Hospice, 1170 N. Court St., Circleville, Ohio 43113.
