Raybourn T. Ratcliff, 77, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015.
He was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Homer and Dolly Ratcliff.
He was a proud retired Pickaway County Deputy Sheriff (“39 T”) for Sheriff Dwight E. Radcliff, a U.S. Navy veteran, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Lodge #30, member of the Aladdin Shrine Temple and a longtime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ray was also retired from the Pactiv Corporation.
He enjoyed woodworking, tending to his garden and spending time with his family and friends. A kinder man never lived.
Raybourn is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carole Ervin Ratcliff, who said, “No one ever loved me more.” He is the father of Carole Ruth (David) Bowsher and Scott (Kathy) Ratcliff; papaw of Benjamin Bowsher, Nicole Ratcliff, Katlyn (Greg) Browning and Kyle Ratcliff; and great papaw to Colt Browning. He also is survived by a sister, Christine (Ed) Chapman; brothers, Gary (Pam) Ratcliff, Larry (Diane) Ratcliff and Milton (Joyce) Ratcliff; and many other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Allman officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Cemetery, Mount Sterling, Ohio.
