Donald E. Harmon, 76, of Amanda, passed away May 14, 2017, at his residence.
He was born on May 24, 1940, in Amanda, to the late Levi and Alice (Mowery) Harmon.
Donny served in the military and was U.S. Army veteran.
He was a 1958 graduate of Amanda High School and was a big supporter of Amanda Summer League and Amanda Clearcreek Athletics.
Donny is survived by his daughter, Kim (Jeff) Stiles of Mt. Sterling; grandchildren, Megan Caroline Welch (Darian Patterson) of Indiana, Joseph David Welch of Maryland and Brian Matthew Welch of Chillicothe; sisters, Roverta Underwood of Lancaster, Leota “Shorty” Harmon of Florida, Sue Harmon of Tennessee and Cindy (Mark) Wetzel of Lancaster; sisters-in-law, Hella Harmon of Texas, Helen Harmon of Amanda, Sharon Harmon of Florida and Linda Harmon of Amanda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Harmon; sister, Mae Julian; and brothers, Eldon, Carl, Bobby Joe, Dale and Bill Harmon.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Michael Mistic officiating. Burial will follow at Amanda Twp. Cemetery with military honors provided by AMVETS Post 2256. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service on Saturday at the funeral home.
