Otis Taylor Miller, born Nov. 7, 1927, in Columbus, passed away April 13, 2017, in Mt. Sterling at the home of his longtime companion, Patricia Quincel Riley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ocey and Dorothy Oare Miller; his wife, Vicky Bohlen Miller; sister, Mariann Distelhorst; and brother, Robert Miller.

He leaves to mourn his only child, Delores (Chad) Fannin, of Circleville; seven grandchildren, Chase, Caeli, Civanah, Cloie, Cstarr, Canaan and Ceaven; sister, Lee (Tom) Karnes of Waverly; brothers, George (Bonnie) Miller of Bremen and Jack (Ruth) Miller Sr. of Ovieda, Florida; and the Riley and Quincel families, who welcomed him with open arms; his special brother-in-law, Stephen (Palma) Mills; several nieces and nephews, particularly Jack (Betsy) Miller Jr.; and special friends, Jewell and Junior Roese and Mark and Lori Pritchard.

Otis was employed for 39 years with the Columbus and Southern Electric Company, now AEP. He started as a “grunt” and ended as Labor Relations Manager/Operations. He was always considered fair in his arbitrations and admired by all.

He is a 32nd Degree Mason of the F. A.&M. Westgate Chapter #623, where he served twice as Worshipful Master. He is a past Illustrious Master of Westgate Council #129 and past High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Westgate Chapter #216.

He is a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy.

Otis is a proud family man who thoroughly enjoyed the accomplishments of his grandchildren since he was unable to finish high school. Recently he was presented his high school diploma (which is available to veterans of that era) by the Madison Plains School Board.

The family wishes to thank the staff of OhioHealth Hospice and dear friends Eleanor Alkire and Mary Alkire, who were always there when needed.

Family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, 331 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling, with Masonic services immediately following. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Porter Tidd Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, with full military honors.
