Robert Linn Miller, age 89, passed away peacefully at Dayton VA Hospice on Feb. 19, 2017.
He was born May 16, 1927, to Harland and Carrie (Reese) Miller in Fairmont, West Virginia.
Robert graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1945 and answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army on Sept. 12, 1945. He served honorably until 1946, where he then went on to get his bachelor’s degree in education from Fairmont State College in 1952.
Robert used that education and passion to serve the Westfall School District for 32 years. In those years, he taught students math, English and physical education.
He is a life member of the Pickaway County Retired Teachers Association, member of two bowling teams and had the opportunity to travel to all 50 states in this nation. He was also a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; baby sister, Doris Miller; brothers, Harland J “Pete” Miller, Paul Miller, James (Betty) Miller and Scott (Dorothy) Miller; and sister, Dora Lee (Miller) Fitzgerald.
Left to mourn Robert’s passing are his daughters, Connie R. (Miller) Shreves and her husband Michael, Cathy L. (Miller) Peart and her husband Roger, and Cheryl A. (Miller) Karn and her husband Philip. Robert is also survived by his bother/sister in-law, Carroll (Shirley) Miller; and sister-in-law Virginia Miller; his grandchildren, Joshua Peart, Robbie Shreves, R.H. Karn and his wife Tanya, and Barbara (Karn) Mayer and her husband Steve; his great-grandchildren, Dylan Newton, Mason Peart, Carson Mayer, Wesley Mayer and Cohen Mayer; his friend, Michael Truog, who drove him to family reunions and was a close friend; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousin, and Roderick and Cooper.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, West Virginia. Visitation will be two hours prior. Burial will follow at Samuel Linn Cemetery in Benton’s Ferry, West Virginia.
