Edward Summers, age 88, formerly of New Holland, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016, in Courthouse Manor.
He was born June 3, 1928, in Ecorse, Michigan.
He was the son of Thomas E. and Sallie (Jones) Summers.
Ed enjoyed flying airplanes and working, especially roofing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille Summers on Dec. 6, 2005; and sister, Maxine.
He is survived by sons, Ronald (Dale) Summers of New Holland, Terry Summers of Chillicothe and Mark Summers of Galloway; daughter, Sharon (Jim) Day of Leesburg, Florida; six grandchildren, Cricket Miller, Mandy Canterbury, Shawna Summers, Jamie Schlernitzauer, Jennifer Day and Cassandra Summers; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling, Paul Jones officiating, with the interment following in New Holland Cemetery. A military service will be performed at the graveside for the World War II Navy veteran. Family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service.
