David L. Morbitzer, 64, of Stoutsville, died unexpectedly at 8:41 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 27, 1952, in Columbus, to the late Edward A and Abagail M. Frech Morbitzer.
On April 16, 1983, he married the former Jackie L. Hayner, who died Jan. 16, 2004.
Surviving are children, Bobbiejo (Michael) McCluer of Stoutsville, David (Roxy) Sorensen of Bradon, South Dakota, and Nicklaus Morbitzer,of Whitehall; 14 grandchildren, including Tristen, Kayla, Jaelyn, Tyler, Ashley, Josh and Kyle; brothers, Edward and Robert Morbitzer; sisters, Mary Jones, Barbara Ridgeway and Dorothy Davy; and many nieces and nephews.
David served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He retired from the State of Ohio, where he had worked as a juvenile officer, and he was also a police sergeant for the United States Department of Defense.
David was a member of St. Mary’s Church, where he had served as a Eucharist Lay Minister. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, in St. Mary’s Church with Fr. Lawrence Hummer Celebrant. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
