CIRCLEVILLE – Two people were injured in a head-on collision early Thursday on state Route 56 East.

Porsha McCain, 22, of Circleville, and Crystal Scurlock, 36, of Laurelville, both were transported to area hospitals for treatment following the crash.

According to Corporal Hunter Lane, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, McCain was traveling eastbound on Route 56 in a 2013 Ford Focus about 7:22 a.m. when she crossed left of center and struck a 2014 Jeep Patriot driven by Crystal Scurlock, 36, of Laurelville.

Both women were trapped in the wreckage and were extricated by members of the Circleville, Pickaway Township and Clearcreek Township fire departments.

Lane said McCain was flown to Grant Medical Center by MedFlight for treatment. Scurlock was transported by squad to Berger Hospital.

Lane said their injuries both appear to be non-life-threatening.

The roadway remained closed for several hours following the crash, which remains under investigation.
