John Arthur Tipton, 76, of Circleville, passed away July 1, 2016.

He was born on Oct. 6, 1939, in Columbus, to Marion and Audrey (Dixon) Tipton.

John served in the Ohio Army National Guard; had been a missionary and teacher at the Island of Dominica, West Indies, and Papua, New Guinea; and had pastored several churches in Ohio, Michigan, New York and Indiana.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

John is survived by his wife, Emalie (Hayes) Tipton; children, John A. “Dusty”, James L., David E., Esther A., Mary E. Tipton and their spouses; eight loving grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph E. and Daniel L. (Dixie) Tipton; and by one sister, Ruth A. Tipton.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the Wellman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Reber Hill Cemetery with Dr. David Lattimer officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
