Tommy Rodger Cooper, 76, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 11, 2016.
He was born Feb. 27, 1940, in Columbus, to Floyd F. and Nora (Young) Cooper. He was reborn to the family of God Feb. 13, 1974, at Brown Road Baptist Church, Columbus.
Tommy was married on July 7, 1979, at Greenleaf Road Baptist Church, Columbus, to Sandra Dawn Yates, who survives.
Also surviving are his three children, Terri (Tonka) Harris of Beaver, Julia Slusher of Ashville and Tommy (Paula) Cooper of Waverly; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Gary (Anita) Cooper of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two sisters, Millie Huffer of Delaware and Lucille Bryant of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Cooper of Marysville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Barbara (Harold) Fraker; a brother, Dick Cooper; and three infant grandchildren.
Tommy was a member of Huntington Chapel Church of Christian Union in Chillicothe. He was also a volunteer firefighter for a total of 27 years between Beaver and and Old Town, Florida. He will be sadly missed, lovingly remembered and always in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at the Huntington Chapel Church, 980 Windy Ridge, Chillicothe, OH 45601, with Pastor Roger Weaks officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Haller Funeral Home and Crematory, Chillicothe.
