Doris S. Cloud, 99, of Circleville, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016, at Pickaway Manor.

She was born May 9, 1917, in Circleville, the daughter of Edward A. and Flora (Landenberger) Schreiner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George R. Cloud, in 1980; her sister, Christine Morgan; and nephew, Chip Morgan.

Doris graduated from Circleville High School and Capital University. She was a teacher within the Circleville City School District for over 40 years.

Doris was a lifelong and very involved member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she participated in the vocal choir, bell choir, Bible Study, Women’s Group and other fellowship and stewardship opportunities. The church was very important to Doris, and she served it and God well.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Pickaway County Historical Society.

Doris loved to paint, read and complete crossword puzzles. Doris loved nature and was an avid birdwatcher. Her favorite color was purple, although she found great joy in anything vibrant and colorful such as butterflies and her precious collection of anything involving lighthouses. She also loved pie, and when asked what type was her favorite, she promptly answered, “Pie,” for she liked all kinds.

Doris is survived by her step-daughter, Mary Lou (Dick) Partee; sisters, Rosemary Hunsicker and Mary Schreiner; brother, Ned (Faye) Schreiner; granddaughter, Renee (Dean) Kuhn; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor and Jordan Kuhn; and nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with the Rev. John Michles officiating. Burial will be in Reber Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
