Marveen Vylee (McKinley) Fortney, age 95, of Harrisburg, passed away May 23, 2016, at the home of her daughter in Encinitas, California.
She was born Dec. 18, 1920, and was preceded in death by her husband, James Darrell Fortney; and her son, Byron Darrell Fortney.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Vylee Fortney (Tom) Greaves; and grandchildren, Julie (Kyle) McBride of Poway, California, Amy Lea (Quentin) of Spring Valley, California, James (Thea) Greaves of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Elisabeth (Colin) Glazier of Santa Clara, California; and 12 great-grandchildren, Emma, Spencer and William McBride, Bethany, James, Damon and Tiffany Lea, Maya, Nicole and Jamie Greaves, and Kayla and Noelle Glazier.
She was a member of the Sterling Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Pickaway Plains Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Pickaway Historical Society, Columbus and Midwest Unit of the Wally Byam Caravan Club, Ladies’ Oriental Shrine, The Cresap Society and a lifetime member of the Harrisburg United Methodist Church.
She and her husband were owners of Marine Mart Trailer Sales.
Marveen was a devout Christian. She dearly loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they loved her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Viewing hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City, where funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, 2016. Immediately following the services, the family and others will be visiting the Pleasant Cemetery in Mount Sterling, where entombment will take place the following day.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to The Harrisburg United Methodist Church or Reece’s Rainbow, an organization that assists orphans with Down Syndrome (P.O. Box 277, Monrovia, MD 21770).
