Leslie L. Chesnut, age 82, passed away peacefully Monday, May 9, 2016, at home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle fighting cancer.
He is survived by beloved and caring wife of 58 years, Marguerite (Margy); children, Diane of New York City, New York, John of Ashville and Susan (Lyman) Pride of Grove City; grandsons, Zack and Nate Pride of Grove City; sisters, Mildred Willis of Columbus, Wanda Bridges of Hillsboro, Jean Willis of London and Rachel Watson of Grove City; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and many devoted friends.
Les graduated from West High School, class of 1951, and was a U.S. Army Korean war veteran. He received his bachelor and masters degrees from The Ohio State University and retired from Columbus Public Schools, where he served as an elementary teacher, elementary principal and executive director of teacher personnel.
He served for 12 years as a member of South-Western City School Board, six years as president. After retirement from Columbus City Schools, he served 14 years as a funeral director.
He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous committees. He spent many summers with dear friends at his beloved cabin on Jose Lake in Michigan.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City, where the service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Vijay Buck officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery.
