Eugene P. “Oppy” Opp

Eugene Palmer “Oppy” Opp, 88, of Chillicothe, died 4:20 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Ross County, to the late Walter and Maude Miller Opp.

On April 30, 1955, he married the former Helen L. Freeman, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Laura Jean (Michael) Miller, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Lindsey Michelle Miller and Matthew Gene Alvere Miller and his girlfriend, Brooke Fraley; a brother-in-law, Richard (Connie) Freeman of Chillicothe; a nephew, Tim Freeman; and a niece, Audrea Baker.

He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Helton; a sister-in-law, Patricia Freeman; and a nephew, Jonathan Freeman.

Eugene graduated from Centralia High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Oppy was parts manager and retired from Vallery Ford. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and was one of several co-owners of the Atomic Speedway.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016, in the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe, with Pastor Barry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
