Mary Jo Stewart, 84, of Circleville, formerly of Kenton, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, at The Pickaway Manor Nursing Home in Circleville.
She was born May 17, 1931, in Kenton, to the late Paul and Florence (Hersh) Daniels.
On June 3, 1951, she married Richard Stewart, and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2011.
Surviving are one daughter, Lu Anne (David) Kaufman of Circleville; one son, Paul (Sue) Stewart of Wharton; three sisters, Barbara (Marion) Houser of Kenton, Anne Lotz of Kenton and Dana Poland of Kenton; one grandson, Dustin (Danielle) Stewart of New Albany; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ryleigh and Hannah; several step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Tim Poland and Dale Lotz.
Mary Jo was a 1949 graduate of Kenton High School. She was excellent pianist who often played for many of the local churches in Kenton. She loved being a homemaker and mother, because she got to take care of her family. Mary Jo enjoyed cooking and baking, and she loved to plant flowers and garden.
Graveside services for Mary Jo Stewart will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Price McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice of Circleville, 116 Morris Rd., Suite C, Circleville OH 43113.
