Norma Jean Manson

Norma Jean Manson of Chillicothe passed from this earth Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at Adena Regional Medical Center one day short of her 85th birthday. She was surrounded by her loving family with her five sons at her bedside.

Norma was born Feb. 27, 1931, to the late Isaac and Millie McCoy Francis. On Nov. 3, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Manson, who preceded her in death Jan. 1, 2006.

Surviving are sons, Mike (Debbie) of Chillicothe, Mark (Nancy) of Circleville, Doug (Joetta) of Cincinnati, Dan (Chris) of Gahanna and Earl (Debbie) of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren, Mycah (Travis) Rourke, Jennifer Cutright, Shawn (Lesley) Manson, Shannon (Missy) Manson, Shanell Manson, Travis Manson, Dawn (Nick) Miller, Whitney Manson (Braden Stocker), Matt Manson (Leigh Farr), Jessica (Brendan) Carter and Zach (Jessica) Manson; 16 great-grandchildren, Michael and Patrick Rourke, Dane Cutright, Austin and Aaron Manson, Drew Moats, Dalton and Kenzie Manson, Quentin, Slade and Colton Manson, Kyerston and Zane Miller, Theodore Stocker, Owen and Mara Jean Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Alma, Bea, Ruth and Patty; brothers, Earl, Ray and Bobby; and a grandson, Lance Manson.

Norma retired as the Chillicothe High School cafeteria manager after 40 years of dedicated service in 2008. The past two years she resided at Bristol Village in Waverly, where she enjoyed playing bingo, doing crafts, being on the resident council and socializing with the other residents.

She was an avid cake decorator for many years and a wonderful cook. The many meals she prepared were thoroughly enjoyed. She loved gardening, camping and bird watching, but most of all Norma loved her family. She was so very proud of every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in the Ware Funeral Home, Chillicothe, with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the funeral home.
