DARBY TOWNSHIP – The victim of a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 62 on Thursday has been identified as James Emmerling, 48, of Grove City, according to Detective Casey Thress, Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
Emmerling was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. John Ellis, Pickaway County Coroner.
The crash occurred about 1:46 p.m. Thursday as Emmerling was traveling southbound on U.S. Route 62 in a Toyota Sienna minivan. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway just north of London Road and traveled several hundred feet before striking a large tree in front of a residence.
Crews from Tri-County Joint Fire District handled the crash scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, Thress said.
