Mae E. Shupe

Mae Evelyn Shupe, 97, of Amanda, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at Bickford of Lancaster.

She was born March 1, 1918, in Amanda, and was the daughter of the late Denver and Nora (Balthaser) Stebelton.

Mae attended Amanda High School and later worked as a cook at Amanda-Clearcreek Schools for 13 years. She attended the Amanda United Methodist Church, belonged to the Lunch Bunch who met at the church every day and was a member of the chair volleyball team.

Mae is survived by two sons, Ramon (Elsie) Shupe and Robert (Dianna) Shupe, both of Amanda; two daughters, Roberta (Lewis) Wasem of Lancaster and Rita (Steve) Hummel of Chillicothe; daughter-in-law, Judy Shupe of Amanda; 12 grandchildren; 16 grandchildren; and a niece, Dolores Leistikow of Canal Winchester.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shupe; son, Rex Shupe; infant daughter, Karen; grandson, Brandon; great-grandson, Vance; and two sisters, Forest Stebelton and Edith Welch.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Rev. Timothy Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family would like memorial contributions be made to Amanda U.M. Church or FairHope hospice in Mae’s memory.
