On Monday, March 11th, 2024, Pike County Sheriff Tracy D. Evans’ Office responded to an address on Morgans Fork Road regarding an injured male. Upon arrival, Deputies contacted 44-year-old Jeremy Scowden, who stated that he and 37-year-old Joshua Hinshaw got into a verbal argument. When Hinshaw brandished a pistol and threatened to shoot Scowden. While Scowden was pleading for his safety, Hinshaw discharged the weapon, striking Scowden in the hand. Scowden was able to flee the residence and go to a neighboring residence for help. Deputies attempted to contact Amber and Joshua Hinshaw at their residence, but nobody was home. A search warrant was served on the home and evidence was collected related to the shooting, as well as drug usage.
A few hours later, the dispatch center at the Pike County Sheriff’s Office gets an anonymous tip that Joshua Hinshaw was at the storage units at 3658 Jasper Road, where he was known to have a unit rented. As Deputies approached Hinshaw, he fled on a motorcycle and a short chase ensued. Due to the safety of the residents and officers, the chase was called off and Deputies lost sight of the motorcycle. A search warrant was then served on the storage unit and several guns and drug items were recovered from within the unit.
Hinshaw is a convicted felon with a firearms disability making possession of any firearm or dangerous ordinance a felony charge.
If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Amber and Joshua Hinshaw, they are urged to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at 740-947-2111.
