Pike County – High-Speed Chase of a Dump Struck Ends in Crash into Police Cruiser

PIKE – at approximately 1530 hrs., two separate pursuits unfolded simultaneously on opposite ends of the county.

The first pursuit was initiated at 1538 hrs. by the Waverly Police Department, reporting the pursuit of a white single-axle dump truck with no visible plates. Pike County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Prosperity Rd. where the chase extended into Ross County. Assistance was sought from Ross County Deputies and the Ohio State Highway Patrol as the pursuit traversed various roads across Pike and Ross Counties. The pursuit, lasting about an hour, involved the truck evading “Stop Sticks” and at one point colliding with a Waverly PD cruiser. It culminated on Hartwood Rd. in Ross County, where the driver, identified as 30-year-old Stacie Stepp of Chillicothe, Ohio, fled on foot. Stepp was swiftly apprehended without further incident and is facing multiple felony charges in both Pike and Ross Counties. Currently, Stepp is held at the Gallia County Jail on charges for Felony Failure to Comply, with pending charges in Ross County for Felonious Assault on a Peace Officer.

Simultaneously, the second pursuit was initiated by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Oak Hill Police Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jackson Post, pursuing a green 1999 Ford F-150 for Felony Failure to Comply and Fictitious Plates into Pike County. Pike County Deputies were dispatched, and the pursuit concluded on the 2200 block of Salem Cave Road without any injuries. Christopher Greene, a 40-year-old male from Beaver, Ohio, was detained and taken into custody. Greene is currently held and charged in Jackson County for Felony Failure to Comply, Failure to Register Plates, and Reckless Operation.
