Pickaway County Firefighters Respond to Commercial Structure Fire at PPG Industries

Circleville – Early morning on April 23, 2024, at 4:32 a.m., Pickaway County Fire, Harrison fire and Sheriff Department rushed to PPG Industries following reports of a commercial structure fire. Upon arrival, they discovered signs of smoke or fire suppression chemicals emanating from the rear building’s third floor.

The first responders were informed that an employee had sustained burns during the incident. He was promptly attended to by Harrison Fire for burns on his arm and the side of his head.

Athorities quickly notified the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to address the situation.

A fire occurred this morning on the second floor of PPG’s Circleville, Ohio resin manufacturing facility. One employee received first aid at the scene, but there were no additional injuries. PPG is working with the EPA to learn more about the incident and expects the facility to return to normal operations in the next day or so. We do not have additional information to share at this time.

At the scene, the Pickaway Township Fire Department took command of the situation as efforts to contain and manage the incident commenced.

As of now, no additional details are available regarding the cause or extent of the fire. The investigation into the incident continues.
