PICKAWAY – County Commissioner says its a win for taxpayers when Pickaway County started using a online auction site to dispose of old/antiquated items and turn them into cash.

GovDeals.com is a online nationwide auction group that provides services to government agencies that allows them to sell items via the internet. On the website you can find, cooling units, trailers, and other items the county deems salable. Some items start with a starting bid and some you can get as cheap as a dollar. Most items are not shipped so contact sellers before bidding.

“We’ve sold over 200 items generating over $240,000 since we began using the service in 2013. We get bidders from all over the country, and it allows us to sell things much easier, and at less cost, than a traditional auction. This is 100% new money that we weren’t receiving prior to using this service, and it’s a big win for taxpayers,” said County Commissioner Brian Stewart.
