Officer Injured, Suspect Hospitalized After Shooting in Chillicothe

CHILLICOTHE — A Chillicothe Police officer and a male suspect were hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on August 27 in the 300 block of East Main Street, according to police. One officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The male involved in the incident was also taken to Adena before being transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with serious injuries including a gun shot wound himself.

At the request of the Chillicothe Police Department, the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is leading the investigation.
