Off-Duty Columbus Officer Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Way Home From Work

Delaware – An off-duty Columbus Officer died today in a Motorcycle crash.

According to reports 36-year-old Andrew Mott crashed when his motorcycle and a SUV collided just before 8 am at the intersection of US-23 and Cottswold drive. He was pronounced dead at 9 am.

Motts had just served a day of work for Columbus Police and was on his way home when the crash happened according to the police department here is their statement.

“It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Officer Andrew J. Mott, who dedicated five years of his life to selflessly serving this community. This morning, Officer Mott lost his life in a fatal motorcycle accident on his way home from work. Officer Mott’s commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of others was unwavering, and his loss will leave a deep void in our hearts. During his tenure, Officer Mott exemplified professionalism, respect, integrity, dedication and enthusiasm in every aspect of his duty. Officer Mott’s legacy will endure through the lives he positively impacted and the countless individuals he helped during his service. He will not be forgotten, and his memory will continue to inspire us all. We extend our deepest condolences to Officer Mott’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult.”
