Nelsonville OH- Police Find Man Hiding in Closet During Warrant Check and Drug Bust

01:23AM Officers responded to W Washington St for a report of a suspicious person. The caller reported that there is an unresponsive male in the alley near Fruth Pharmacy. EMS was requested to the scene. Officers patrolled the area and surrounding areas but did not see or find anyone. Call Unfounded.

06:41AM Officers responded to W Franklin St for a report of a Domestic Disturbance. The caller reported that she has an individual who claims that she put a password on his phone. The caller also requested that the male be escorted out of her residence. It was noted that the two individuals share a grandchild, and that the caller did not want the male there anymore. The male was getting essential items and stated that arrangements would be made for him to get the rest of his belongings.

07:50AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on US 33. The driver was given a verbal warning for an equipment violation, then released.

08:17AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on St Rt 78. It was determined that the individual had an active warrant. The male was advised to appear in court today for his active warrant.

08:58AM Officers responded to JDC in Lancaster to pick up two male juveniles in order to transport them to Athens Court for their scheduled appearance.

10:25AM Officers performed a vehicle stop on W Washington St. Due to Criminal Indicators observed during the traffic stop, K9 Attila was released to perform a free air sniff of the vehicle to which Attila positively indicated on the passenger side door. The search revealed marijuana paraphernalia that was seized. A local towing company was requested to the scene and the vehicle was towed. The driver of the vehicle was dropped off at his residence.

11:21AM Officers responded to W Franklin St for a report of a parking complaint. The caller reported that a vehicle has been parked on the road for a year and would like it removed. Officers arrived to find both involved parties hollering at each other from across the road and each have called in complaining about the other. The parties separated. Situation resolved.

12:52PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on E Canal St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for an exhaust related violation, then released.

01:10PM Officers responded to Walnut St for a warrant check and report of narcotics. Officers spoke to the homeowner who gave verbal consent to search the home. Officers located John Dye hiding in a closet with a blanket thrown over him. Miranda Rights were read to all involved individuals. Officers located a black fanny pack on a stand that a male was observed wearing at their time of arrival. The fanny pack contained multiple 1 x 1 baggies, syringes, digital scales, suspected Methamphetamine, suspected Heroin, and additional Drug Paraphernalia. Officers arrested and transported the following individuals to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail: Ryan Rutherford arrested for Permitting Drug Abuse (F5), Earl McKee Jr was arrested for Possession of Drugs x 2 (F5) and Trafficking in Drugs (F4), and John Dye was arrested for his active warrants. The suspected narcotics will be sent to BCI and the case will be forwarded to the Prosecutors Office.

02:50PM Officers responded to St Rt 78 for a report of an accident with property damage. A local towing company was requested to the scene and the vehicle was towed.

03:55PM Officers responded to E Canal St for a report of a Domestic Disturbance. The caller reported that a nearby couple in another apartment were yelling at each other and slamming doors. Officers confirmed that the involved female had an active warrant. The Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail was contacted but refused to except the female due to having no space available. The female was released and told to contact Seneca County about her warrants. It was determined that the dispute was verbal only, no signs were seen of anything physical that had taken place.

04:09PM Officers responded to E Canal St for a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller reported that his daughter stated that her mother and stepfather have been hitting her. Officers spoke to all involved parties. It was noted that the situation was just a dispute between the parents and their 18-year-old daughter.

04:52PM Officers responded to Walnut St for a report of an investigative complaint. The caller reported that a needle was found on her property. Officers located the syringe and collected it for proper disposal.

06:19PM Officers responded to Grover St for an investigative complaint. The caller reported that she had found a needle. Officers located the syringe and collected it for proper disposal.

06:42PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on Clinton St. Bruce Conley was issued a citation for driving without a license.

07:19PM Officers responded to Poplar St for a request of a well-being check. Officers made contact with the children and adult in question and noted that all were fine.

09:16PM Officers responded to Jefferson St for a report of a domestic disturbance. The caller reported seeing a male who was following a female, and both were yelling at each other. The caller stated that they heard the female tell the male to stop following her to which he did comply. Officers located the involved subjects. It was noted that the female was not in distress. Situation resolved.

10:00PM Officers performed a vehicle stop on Myers St. The driver of the vehicle was given a verbal warning for an equipment violation, then released.

10:06PM Officers patrolled the area of poplar street after hearing a loud boom, which was possibly fireworks. Officers were attempting to locate where the noise came from in order to identify what had caused the noise.
