CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A minor parking lot mishap at a local discount store turned into a ride to jail for a driver after an patrolling officer discovered he was wanted on a felony parole violation.

According to a Chillicothe Police Department report, an officer patrolling on a marked police ATV pulled into the Family Dollar parking lot at 72 North Bridge Street around 4:56 p.m. on Thursday, October 1. Upon arrival, the officer witnessed a low-speed fender-bender between a car pulling out of the lot and another vehicle backing out of a parking space.

When the officer stepped in to investigate, both drivers stated the damage was negligible and declined to file a formal accident report or exchange insurance information.

However, standard procedure led the officer to run the drivers’ information through the LEADS database. Checks revealed that the driver determined to be at fault, identified as Luis Agosto, had an active warrant for his arrest out of the Lorain Police Department for a parole violation.

After confirming the warrant was active and valid, officers took Agosto into custody without incident.
