The Logan Elm FFA chapter is celebrating a major achievement as its 2025 Equine Management Team placed 3rd in the Ohio state finals of the Equine Management Career Development Event (CDE). Held on April 22, the contest featured 115 teams from across the state, making Logan Elm’s top-three finish a standout accomplishment.
Team members Laney Smith, Kimberly Petty, Josie Blair, and Maddox Arledge earned their spot at the finals by first placing in the top ten during the preliminary rounds. Their hard work paid off in the state contest, where they demonstrated their knowledge and skills across several rigorous components. These included judging halter and performance classes, delivering oral reasons to officials, and completing both online assessments and hands-on team activities. Contestants were also tested on horse breeds, equipment, nutrition, and various other aspects of equine science.
Thanks to their strong finish, the Logan Elm Equine Team has earned the honor of representing Ohio at The Big E, a multi-state competition held in Springfield, Massachusetts.
“Way to go Laney, Kimberly, Josie, and Maddox!” the chapter announced proudly.
