Lancaster OH- Firefighters worked for two hours to extinguish homeless encampment fire

Lancaster OH- A homeless encampment has been destroyed by fire, according to a social media post made by the Lancaster Fire Department.

The Lancaster Fire Department was assisted by Pleasant Township Fire Department, Hocking Township Fire Department, Greenfield Township Fire Department and Bloom Township Fire Department. The post reports that they battled the blaze for roughly two hours before it was extinguished. The encampment was located behind River Valley Mall.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.
