CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — An afternoon disruption at the Ross County Fair led to law enforcement intervention on Thursday, August 13, 2026, after juveniles were reported shooting people with a BB gun from a moving golf cart.

According to a report from the Ross County Sheriff’s Office (Incident #SO-P2603529), dispatchers working the fairgrounds alerted deputies at approximately 2:00 p.m. to reports of assault on Fairgrounds Road in Chillicothe. Witnesses reported that juveniles driving around the fairgrounds on a golf cart were firing a BB gun at fairgoers.

Deputies responded to the scene, located the golf cart, and detained the suspects while conducting an investigation.

Officers seized the BB gun used in the incidents, and the juveniles involved were officially barred from the remainder of the 2026 Ross County Fair.

Law enforcement officials stated that no formal charges were filed against the suspects, as the victims opted not to press charges.
