On June 4, 2024, police responded to a report of suspicious individuals wearing masks and running around residences in the area of Foxtrail Road and Deerpath Road. Upon investigation, a white Nissan with three occupants was located, and the driver, a 17-year-old male, was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm.

The firearm, a Smith&Wesson M&P 9mm handgun, was reported stolen out of Groveport Police Department in Franklin County, OH. The driver and a passenger, also a juvenile, were taken into custody and transported to the juvenile detention center on charges related to the gun and alcohol found in the vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the occupants were wearing black clothing and gloves, and a toy gun was also found in the vehicle. The driver claimed he was “night fishing” and attempted to flee the scene when the firearm was discovered.

The juveniles were charged with improper handling of a firearm, receiving stolen property, and obstructing official business. The incident highlights the importance of addressing juvenile crime and ensuring public safety.
