COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost issued a statement today, Friday, June 27, 2025, at 12:30 PM EDT, following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Trump v. CASA, with details reported at 12:45 PM EDT. Yost praised the decision, which clarifies that Congress has not granted individual judges the authority to oversee the elected president and the Executive Branch.
The ruling strikes down the concept of the “universal injunction,” a practice the Supreme Court noted was absent for much of the nation’s history. Yost emphasized, “Democratically enacted laws cannot be put on hold by judges who think they are kings. Americans’ freedom depends on each part of the government staying in its lane. Legislatures make laws, executive officials enforce them, and courts resolve cases. The power of a court is only the power to offer relief equal to the injury proved by those parties.”
