Jon Franklin Rhoades, 61, of Circleville, passed away unexpectedly on January 4, 2026. He was born in Circleville on July 11, 1964, to Marvin and Sue Ellen (Anderson) Rhoades. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, James “Jamie” Rhoades.

Jon is survived by his mother, Sue Rhoades; his wife, Pamela Sue (Black) Rhoades; his children, Isaac (Brianna) Rhoades, Travis Riffle, and Taylor (Lukas) Lindamood; and his grandchildren, Wyatt, Jesse, and Ellie, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Joseph (Laura) Rhoades, Joy (Dan) Hovermale, and Lisa Rhoades; his nieces and nephews, Mitchell (Laura) Fox, Lyon McCabe, Lindsey (Zach) Vance, Caitlyn Rhoades, Jessica Rhoades, Maggie (Andrew) Hovermale, and Hyden Hovermale; and his beloved dogs, Hank and Cooper.

Jon treasured time with his grandchildren and his summer weekends on Lake Erie. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, traveling, and attending races at Bristol Motor Speedway. He was playful, full of life, and never missed an opportunity to share a joke or make someone laugh.

Jon graduated from Westfall High School in 1982. He was a member of Pickaway Lodge 23 F and AM, the Scottish Rite, and F O E 685, organizations that reflected his strong sense of service and community.

Jon devoted his life to serving his community. He began his career with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer and worked his way up to serve as a Captain, a place he considered more than a workplace, but family. He also served with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, the Westfall Local School District, served as Jackson Township Fiscal Officer, and was the owner of Darby Creek Home Inspections.

Visitation will be held on Thursday January 8, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the Ohio Christian University, Circleville, with visitation again at the University from 10 a.m. until the time of service with burial to follow in Jackson Township.

Jon will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to the community, and the laughter he shared so freely with those who knew him.
