WASHINGTON, D.C. — Hormel Foods Corporation is recalling approximately 256,185 pounds of canned beef stew due to potential contamination with foreign material, specifically wood, as announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM EDT. The recall was prompted by three consumer complaints and affects products produced on February 4, 2025.

The recalled item is a 20-oz. metal can of “Dinty Moore BEEF STEW” with a “BEST BY FEB 2028” date and lot code “T02045,” which may include an additional number at the end. The cans bear the establishment number “EST 199G” and were distributed to retail locations nationwide. FSIS is concerned that some of these products may still be in consumers’ pantries.

No confirmed injuries have been reported, but individuals worried about potential health issues are advised to consult a healthcare provider. Consumers are urged to discard the product or return it to the point of purchase. FSIS is conducting recall effectiveness checks and will post retail distribution lists on www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls when available.
