
CIRCLEVILLE TOWNSHIP — Pickaway County deputies are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck an 86-year-old woman on a motorized mobility scooter as she crossed U.S. Route 23 in a marked crosswalk Thursday morning.
The incident happened just before 6:45 a.m. on November 20, 2025, at the intersection of US-23 and Sperry Drive
.According to the sheriff’s office report, Jerrie-Anne Bennett of Circleville was waiting at the signal post and began crossing northbound US-23 in the marked crosswalk when the pedestrian “walk” signal activated. At the same time, traffic on Sperry Drive received a green light.
An unknown vehicle stopped at the red light on westbound Sperry Drive made a right turn onto northbound US-23 and failed to yield to the pedestrian in the crosswalk. The vehicle struck Bennett, throwing her from her mobility scooter into the left northbound lane. The driver fled the scene north on US-23 without stopping.
Pickaway Township Fire/EMS transported Bennett to Berger Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Her mobility scooter was taken to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office for safekeeping.
The crash occurred at dawn in rainy conditions on wet pavement. The suspect vehicle is described only as last seen traveling north on US-23. No make, model, color, or license plate information is available at this time.
