GROVE CITY — What began as a routine investigation into a stolen vehicle quickly escalated into a dangerous and chaotic crime spree involving shoplifting, a crash, and a violent robbery that left a mother injured. Grove City Police say all five suspects connected to the incident are now in custody.

On November 11, 2025, officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle traveling on Stringtown Road near Jackson Pike. As police searched the area, employees at Dick’s Sporting Goods reported a theft involving multiple suspects.

A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Stringtown Road approaching I-71. The driver crashed into another vehicle, prompting three male suspects to flee on foot. Two female suspects remained at the scene and matched the description of those involved in the shoplifting incident.

Police quickly apprehended two of the fleeing males at businesses along Jackpot Road. The third suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Shaliq Bing, fled across all lanes of I-71 at approximately 5:30 p.m., endangering motorists as he attempted to evade arrest.

According to investigators, Bing then attacked a mother, punching her in the face and demanding her car keys in an attempt to steal her vehicle. One of the victim’s children ran after Bing as he tried to get into the car. A Grove City officer arrived moments later, chased Bing on foot, and took him into custody.

In total, five suspects were arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle and related crimes: two 20-year-olds, two 16-year-olds, and one 17-year-old.

Police say charges are forthcoming for offenses including robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, and additional felony counts related to the attempted carjacking and assault.
