COLUMBUS, Ohio — In a spirited display of rivalry ahead of this weekend’s highly anticipated game, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer have placed a friendly wager on the outcome of The Game, the annual football showdown between The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines.
“With a spot in the Big Ten Championship on the line, Fran and I are confident the Buckeyes will come out on top in the greatest rivalry in college football,” said Governor DeWine. “I’m proud to engage in this friendly bet with Governor Whitmer, and I look forward to showcasing some of Ohio’s finest treats. O-H!”
Governor DeWine has wagered a gift basket featuring an array of local Ohio candies. Among the items are buckeyes from Perrysburg’s Marsha’s Homemade Buckeyes, chocolate-covered pretzels from Cleveland’s Malley’s Chocolates, assorted chocolates from Dayton’s Esther Price Candies, and a bag of Dum-Dums lollipops from Bryan, Ohio.
The highly anticipated game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines will take place on November 30 in Columbus. As the rivalry intensifies, Governor DeWine expressed his optimism for the Buckeyes’ victory.
Meanwhile, Governor Whitmer, showing her confidence in Michigan’s chances, made her own wager, saying, “I can’t wait to watch the Michigan Wolverines beat the Ohio State Buckeyes for the fourth year in a row, alongside thousands of college football fans. I’m confident our Wolverines will come out on top, and I’m excited to wager Governor DeWine some fantastic Michigan-shaped gummies. Go Blue!”
Governor Whitmer has offered a pack of Michi-Gummies from Shurms Candy, a Michigan-based company known for its local treats. These gummies are shaped like the state of Michigan and come in a variety of flavors, including cherry, raspberry, apple, grape, strawberry, and watermelon.
