Four Structure Loss in Bainbridge Fire, Investigators Looking for Witnesses

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge fire responded to a free on the 100 block of Main Street in Bainbridge around 2 a.m. On Tuesday, May 1.  Four structures involved in the fire are total losses, including apartment units, businesses and a car sales lot.  External damage was sustained to the mayor and city office building.  Some residential units were occupied at the time of the fire, but all escaped safely.

Eleven fire departments from four different counties responded to the fire, which took nearly three hours to control.  Firefighters were called back to the structure twice after the fire rekindled.  The origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation through the State Fire Marshal’s office in conjunction with the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators will be in the area location additional witnesses and conducting interviews.  Anyone with information relating to the fire is encouraged to call the State Fire Mashal’s office at 800-589-2728 or the Ross County Sheriff’s office at 740-773-1185.

Pickaway County Box 65 responded to the fire, Mark Adkins of Box 65 said, “We had a number of churches, local store’s, paint valley school, and Western Avenue McDonald’s in Chillicothe donate Box 65 100 waters, 150 gatorade, 400 food units, 275 cups of coffee, 10 hot chocolates, 30 bottles of Orange Juice. If anyone would be interested in donation to help us out, mail to P.O.
