Fayette County – Man Arrested for Kidnapping Held Victim at Gunpoint in Home

Man Arrested in Fayette County on Charges of Kidnapping, Strangulation, and Assault

Fayette County, Ohio (January 16, 2024) – A 57-year-old man, Earl Wesley Nixon II, is currently facing serious charges in Fayette County following an alleged incident in Union Township. Sheriff Vernon Stanforth reports that Nixon has been arrested and charged with kidnapping, strangulation, and aggravated assault.

According to Sheriff Stanforth, the victim reported the incident occurred in the early morning hours of January 6th at a residence on U.S. Route 22 West. The victim alleges that Nixon refused to allow them to leave the residence, held them at gunpoint, and physically assaulted them while they attempted to gather their belongings. After several hours, the victim managed to escape and contacted the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies conducted an investigation and interviewed the victim, leading to the issuance of multiple arrest warrants for Nixon. A search warrant was also executed at his residence, where he was subsequently apprehended without incident. During the search, deputies collected evidence believed to be related to the alleged crime.

Currently, Nixon is being held in the Fayette County Jail on bond while the investigation continues. The case will be presented to the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s office for review.
