[Berne Township, Fairfield County Ohio, March 26, 2024] On March 26, 2024, at approximately 08:30 am, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Fairfield County SWAT team, conducted a search warrant in the 100 block of South Main Street in the Village of Sugar Grove. This action followed a tip received from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force regarding potential child pornography activity.
During the execution of the search warrant, detectives interviewed Amit Mohabir, 26 years old, and subsequently placed him under arrest. It was revealed that Mr. Mohabir is currently on probation for a similar offense dating back to 2021.
Mohabir was 23 when he was arrested last time during that investigation the sheriff’s department searched the same home and found numerous sexually-oriented images involving minors and the seizure of several electronic devices.
Sheriff Lape emphasized that such illegal activities will not be tolerated in Fairfield County. He urged the public to report any suspicions of child pornography possession to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
