LANCASTER, Ohio (August 4, 2025) – Fairfield Federal Savings and Loan Association is celebrating a historic milestone this month—130 years of serving the residents of Fairfield County and the Central Ohio region.

Founded in August 1895 in Lancaster, Fairfield Federal has remained a pillar of stability in the local banking community, evolving with the times while maintaining its focus on personalized, hometown service.

“130 years is a significant milestone for any business to achieve, and one that we are very proud of at Fairfield Federal,” said Mary Snider, President of Fairfield Federal. “It would not have been possible without our dedicated Board of Directors, employees, and especially our customers. We are so grateful for the faith and trust that our customers have placed in us for 130 years, and we remain committed to investing in and supporting the community which has supported us all these years.”

Still mutually owned and community-driven, Fairfield Federal has consistently supported local causes and events. From sponsoring Lancaster’s beloved Friday Night Bandstand to donating to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, the Lancaster Festival, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Ohio, the bank’s impact extends far beyond financial services.

Fairfield Federal’s roots trace back to the savings and loan movement that began in Philadelphia in the early 1800s. Inspired by the goal of helping people achieve home ownership, a group of Lancaster businessmen established the Fairfield Perpetual Building and Loan Association. It was officially incorporated on August 20, 1895, with membership opening the following day.

In 1935, the Association adopted a federal charter, changing its name to Fairfield Federal Savings and Loan Association. Its first three-story office opened in 1922 at 110 E. Main Street. As the bank grew, it moved to a newly constructed Main Office in 1964, where operations remain today. The bank continued to expand with the addition of the West Fair Avenue Office in 1980 and the Pickerington Office in 1981.

Today, Fairfield Federal employs approximately 50 area residents and continues to serve customers across its three locations.
